Finding a good domain

Its getting harder and harder to come up with unique domain names. It seems like every time I come up with a unique name and check availability, its taken.

How do you go about coming up with your domains? Do you use domain name suggestions, or do you think them up and then check them?

I only buy aftermarket names now as this is where smart investments await.

It depends on your business model but I am after predictable growth and liquidity - LLL and NNN for the most part, at least for the .IN portion of my portfolio.

Thanks for the information. I'll have to keep that in mind. I'm not big into domaining, I've just gotten a few for personal use. I just find it frustrating trying different names until I find a good one.

Rightly said NVnone, but if you are having luck, you can still find some premium looking domains , which actually do make up fast bucks if there is a buyer. I had suggested a domain to one of my friend and within 3 months of buying it he got a 100 times the buying price for that.

I think for .in you can still come up with fresh registrations that are good. But for more established extensions, like .com, you are probably better off doing what DomainLobe suggests and only buying in the secondary market.

I know what you mean because last month I did some research about a domain name and now that I got the money, someone else has already registered the domain name. It is better that you register it the moment that you find a good domain name.

Yes, if you find a good domain name available, register it right away, rush through the checkout even...

Domain name suggestions is a good option. I think ".in" domains are nowhere close to being as frustrating as the ".com" domains. You can still work your way around the former. Just twist the intuitive name you want and you'll get it.
