The new weekly domain sales report is out at DNJournal.com. It's a rare week when we have something other than a .com at the top of our all extension Top 20 Sales Chart. This was one of those week's. A .org domain sits in the penthouse suite on the elite list after an impressive $55,000 sale at Sedo. The runner-up was a 3-letter .com, the kind of name usually fills the top spot. The .coms did go on to pile up 14 of the 20 chart entries but the ccTLDs also had a good outing with five charted sales, two of which reached the top ten. You can get all of the details here: http://www.dnjournal.com/archive/domainsales/2017/20170222.htm

Those 3 letter sites. Does anyone know yet why, exactly, 3 letter domains fetch such a high price year after year? It just seems like an odd thing to be popular.

I wondered about this also, because I have always noticed just how popular 2 and 3 letter domains are and how their price is increasing significantly these days. Could it have anything to do with the fact that they are almost all taken?
