Last week Conference at Hyderabad, INDIA on New GTLDs, IDNs Updates

Conference on “New Horizons in Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) & Reference to new generic Top Level Domains (gTLDs)â€Â

5 Things from the Horses Mouth at the above meet on Aug 19, 2011 at Hyderabad

1) To a question raised to the panel, Dr. Govind,Sr. Director, DIT, Govt. of India & CEO NIXI. replied the 1 million mark has already been crossed and some celebrations are being planned in Oct/Nov and also a Book launch

>>>> Also the NEW domain prices promo is going to be extended by another 2-3 months is what they replied.

2) 2 shady practices also quoted by one of the panel members Mr. Rajesh Aggarwal -IT Secretary, Maharashtra are:

A) Some registrars dropping the names before the grace period and milking more money from the original registrants saying extra efforts and expenses.

B) Names by customers which are found to be available on search suddenly coming up within few minutes/hours as not available. Shady underbelly by some registrars

C) The .MUMBAI and .NYC extns are going to rock and they would be ready to help other cities and towns applicants with the technical and paperwork help.

D) Was critical of IDN Tld guys to wake up at least now to see that "who is" info is accurate and verified by a mobile SMS password to avoid unscrupulous hands laying hands on prime names.

3) Mr. Roland LaPlante Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer Afilias, Director Afilias India and Ms.Tina Dam,IDN Advisor to ICANN's presentations on "Challenges in exciting the Indian Stakeholders
towards new gTLDs"
and why and how to bet on the new gtlds coming up soon made many bullish and eager to look forward to the coming historic moment.

4)Mr. Ram Mohan,Executive Vice President & Chief Technology Officer-Afilias and Director Afilias, India's calm an composed foresight into the security aspects impressed many.

5) Mr. Pavan Duggal -Cyber Law Expert speech left many speechless and he captivated the audience with how history is being made and we being a part of history hardly realize it but would realize it after few years when we look back and curse ourselves for having missed it and not participating and profiting from it.

We have this month Aug 24, 25th in California an important meet where Berkins (thedomains.com) would be participating on new Gtlds topic titled- "Show me the money"
