From what I know, where CMS is concerned, Wordpress is at one end of the spectrum, with Drupal at the other end and Joomla in the middle. Wordpress is the easiest to use and Drupal is the hardest while Joomla is between the two. Drupal is also the most secure and the Wordpress is the least.
I have spent a few months studying Drupal because of a client's requirement. In the end, I found that I could get the same thing done with Wordpress. Is Wordpress really insecure? I think not. It's more a matter of how you set up your site. I would strongly recommend using Wordpress. It has a lot of developer support and I am sure, although I haven't tried it, that if you need help, there are many people who can help.
Keep us updated with how you are getting on with Wordpress.
