From what I know, where CMS is concerned, Wordpress is at one end of the spectrum, with Drupal at the other end and Joomla in the middle. Wordpress is the easiest to use and Drupal is the hardest while Joomla is between the two. Drupal is also the most secure and the Wordpress is the least.

I have spent a few months studying Drupal because of a client's requirement. In the end, I found that I could get the same thing done with Wordpress. Is Wordpress really insecure? I think not. It's more a matter of how you set up your site. I would strongly recommend using Wordpress. It has a lot of developer support and I am sure, although I haven't tried it, that if you need help, there are many people who can help.

Keep us updated with how you are getting on with Wordpress.

I use WordPress only because it was recommended to me by so many people and I still use it because it turned out to be everything they said it was and more. As a newbie to blogging, I really didn't want something that was hard to use, but Wordpress seems to be such a powerful platform that is unbelievably easy to use.

I think we prefer the one we are used to use more, whether it's Joomla or Wordpress.

There are some real differences between Wordpress and Drupal. I can't speak for Joomla since I haven't used it at all. In Wordpress, the plugins are a free-for-all situation. Anyone can create a plugin. There is no requirement that the developer must support the plugin. I don't think there is even a thorough vetting process to make sure that the plugin works well. So using a plugin in Wordpress is something you do at your own risk. In Drupal, the community is more organized. A developer will most probably pitch his idea in the community forum first. Their philosophy is sort of like why do it alone when you can do it together. Also, when a developer can no longer maintain a plugin, he will offer it to the community. Sometimes another developer or group of developers will take over the plugin. So with Drupal, when you use a plugin, you get more active support.

WordPress is getting very powerful every day. It is not only your typical blog software anymore. It has all the plugins needed for business, social network and many other things. So it can evolve into something bigger. Though Joomla can do all of this. It all comes down to what's your preference. I personally choose WordPress.
