A different type of fraud has recently been reported. In this, the fraudsters reserve a domain name similar to a web shop and builds an accurate replica of the website of this web shop. Then they offer the same products but at a very cheap rate.
The products don't exist in real and when a user purchases a product from these fraudulent sites, they lose their money.
These type of frauds are harmful for both - the user as well as the business. The business tend to suffer from reputational damage from this kind of activities.
To overcome such fraud, users must always contact the number of the shop owner given in the 'Contact Us' menu of the website, whenever they encounter a website selling extra cheap products which is too good to be true. If its a fraud, the number would not connect.
Also, check out the WhoIs information for the domain name. If it lists a different company of a different country, it is definitely a fraud.
Another check that the payment system is secure.
