.co domains available worldwide

As I understand it, the .co domain is available worldwide starting today. Although originally created for the country of Columbia, the .co domain seems to be gaining some nice traction.

Now, before we just dismiss .co as just another domain extension.....here are a few points to be noted....

.co - can stand for corporation
.co - can stand for company
.co - can stand for commerce
.co - can stand for Colorado
.co - is the closest thing to .com
.co - is faster to type than .com

Do you see any future for this extension?

BTW, these domains are currently being offered for $30 each

In the short run, there is the potential for some speculative profits in .co if you time things right.

In the long run, I think .co will be a bust and .in holds a lot more potential.

Agreed with JEFF.
.CO only benefits to speculators and big investors, ofcourse registry also.

As you know.
Twitter also has t.co

Now ask yourself, whether you wish to type T.co or twitter.com ? and which one sounds good!

Cheers...!

.co will experience some initial hype, and some will get .com typo traffic, but as Jeff said correctly,.co will end up being a bust in the mid to long term.

the registration cost is so high for .CO across registrars
godaddy.com : $29.99/yr
Netsol : $29.99/year
Answerable.com: $27.99
Mitsu :Rs 1,399.00
bigrock.com : Rs 1,199.00 ($25.99)

that even if newbies like us wants to register any can't think of :), I feel all the new launches are only to benefit either the registries or speculators..
