Second Tier social networks?

Facebook, Twitter, etc are definitely premium, but there's a whole host of smaller networks like Plurk. Is it worth targeting these for traffic, since there won't be as much competition and it's likely to be cheaper. I'm just not sure if it is effective.

It might be effective to a certain degree. There surely wont be as much competition like on facebook and the responses you might get would probably be more legit as well, at least that's how I see smaller social networks.
