The domain name X.UK is up for sale at a price of 10 million EUR.

The domain name is the shortest web address ever, meaning that there are only 36 single character name with .UK extension( 26 alphabets and 10 numbers).

The owner of the domain Simon Burgess who owns X.co.uk said that the domain is free from 'cyber-squatting' and shows endless promises since it can be used for XBox, X-Factor etc.

Then wouldn't 1.uk be the shortest?

The extension has only two letters which means it is the shortest extension(.uk) and single character primary name(x) would mean just 3 letter in whole of name and extension.

I understand, but there are many other ccTLDs (which are also two letters) that allow a single letter.

It sold for 40,000 GBP in Nominet's initial auction. The domain has traded hands twice since then, presumably for higher prices. I can see a low 6-figure valuation to the right end user. 10 million would be a jackpot win.

O.co sold for $300,000 in 2010 and that price rance is what I'd expect for X.uk (maybe even mid $xxx, xxx), but definitely not 7 figures, let alone 8.
