George Kirikos Uncovers the Biggest Domain Sale of the Year to Date

If you are a regular reader of this column you have become accustomed over the years to seeing us chart previously unreported high end domain sales that have been uncovered by George Kirikos through his examination of SEC filings made by public corporations. George did it again this week and really hit the mother lode by finding the biggest sale reported so far in 2016 - Vivo .com at $2.1 million.

While looking through a 3Q-2016 Q-10 filing by RealNetworks, Inc. George found evidence (on page 26) that, with some additional fact checking, allowed him to confirm that Vivo.com was the domain sold in a transaction that easily eclipses the year's previous leader, Jade.com (sold for $1.25 million in a private transaction in July). The domain was purchased by China's Vivo Mobile Communication Co.

In another significant transaction this week WebQuest sold the #2 domain [...] CarGames.com, for a cool $200,000 [...]
