"The #3 slot was filled by a sale that is being talked about at almost every major media outlet today. That is Republican Presidential candidate Rand Paul's $100,980 purchase of RandPaul.com (first reported by NationalJournal.com, with Elliot Silver the first we know of in the domain field to tweet the NJ story). Since the news broke, other outlets are offering their own take on whether or not Paul paid too much."

Ron Jackson:

"I was interviewed by The Washington Post for their story by Philip Bump who was refreshing to talk to. That is because Philip is one of the rare mainstream reporters who already has a good understanding of domains (he even added a domain quiz of his own to the story - check it out and see how many you can get right!)"

And the Beat Goes On - 3-Letter .Com Boom Continues - One Nets Nearly a Half Million Dollars - 9 Make This Week's Top 20 Chart

By Ron Jackson

Up and up they go and where they will stop nobody knows. The sheer number of 3-letter .coms on our weekly Top 20 Sales Chart has been unprecedented (nearly half of this week's chart went to them) but now the prices are reaching the stratosphere as well. This week's top sale [...] one the five highest domain sales reported so far this year.

George Kirikos of Leap.com did a great job of finding that late 2014 sale while poring through an SEC report filed by the buyer - a public Chinese travel company called Qunar (NASDAQ:QUNR) that has a $6 billion market cap. George even managed to get the company's Investor Relations department to confirm the acquisition (Elliot Silver also did some research into the sale and wrote a post about it at DomainInvesting.com today).

Three of the top six sales were 3-letter .coms [...] Another 3-letter trio reached the top half of the leader board.

The #2 spot on the elite list [...] in a deal handled by Tracy Fogarty who has gotten off to a fast start since opening her own brokerage at eNaming.com last month.

[...]
Voove.com also got on the board with yet another 3-letter .com - #8 [...]
