It is really shocking that most of the hacking nowadays is actually automated. To imagine that bots are constantly scanning every site in pursuit of a loophole just highlights the importance of constantly updating your security software. In light of this, which one (between a windows firewall and security software) would anyone recommend?

According to the pros, Kaspersky Internet Security performs well in testing. So does Bitdefender. For most of these security suites you can save money by purchasing the one that came out a year before. Most will allow you to update to their latest version free of charge.

@tulip, I agree that it is crazy how hackers work these days. They are even starting to use ads to spread viruses and steal information. I run a security scan at least once a week.
