Short Domains Continue Dominance - 12 of This Week's Top 20 Sales Are Four Characters or Less

By Ron Jackson

As regular readers know 3-letter .coms have been on a tear this year. Fewer than usual were reported this week with only two on our all extension Top 20 Sales Chart, but brevity remained very highly valued. A dozen names on the Big Board ranged from just two to four characters to the left of the dot.

Mera.com led the way after domain pioneer Garry Chernoff sold that domain for $132,500 in a private transaction. In another six-figure sale, DomainHoldings moved Adopting.com for $125,000
(showing yet again that it's hard to go wrong with one-word .coms).

Sedo took the next two spots with FBET.com at $54,500 [...] FBET.com was a very impressive flip - that domain had been purchased just last month (also at Sedo) for only $12,099 - allowing the buyer to more than quadruple their money in just a few weeks [...]

Not all of those short domains were .coms. Two were .nets, led by Sedo's $29,500 sale of #6 [...]

BD.net. That is also the biggest .net sale reported so far this year [...]
