Love marriage or arranged one?

Seems a little out dated, but the broken marriages and divorces on the rise make me think, is it the love marriage that doesn't strike, if yes then why not arranged marriages and developing your love life after the nuptial knot.

It could happen. But you know why people are separating? It's because women are empowered. They earn, and with income comes independence.

Right on, silas! Remove 'em and we'll have no more divorces! But I'd still go for love marriages. Arranged ones are alright if you will be married to a good-looking guy. What if you'll be asked to marry a person who looks hideously ugly?

Keeping a marriage strong, is hard work but worth it. I believe that people give up to quickly now days and are not willing to give it the kind of time it needs to work out.

The best way to keep people from divorcing each other is to repeal the divorce laws.

I don't agree. How does repealing the divorce laws change an unhappily married couple into a happy couple? Is it better to be unhappily married, or divorced but happier in life? I prefer the latter.

If you mean by repealing the divorce laws that people should not be married in the first place, then it still doesn't solve the problem of how many "relationship breakups" there are in today's society.

I agree. It's usually the harder-to-maintain things in life that are the most rewarding.

Love is very important, when you love someone beforehand then you can love them throughout your life, where as if you are forced together then it can be difficult to learn to love someone.

i agree with you. i like the divorce thing because if you happen to marry someone who is not really meant for you, then divorce is the answer. we have the right to be happy. what is the sense of staying together if the love is not there anymore? that is a torture. marriage with love is still the best.

i would also like to share my idea about love marriage and arranged one. love marriage is a good thing because love is the foundation of a good marriage and relationship. but then sometimes, arranged marriage can also work out. if you try to open your heart and let your feelings grow for that person, then i would also go for arranged marriage.

I think both has its pros and cons. According to me both are good if partners are ready to sacrifice and co-operate for/with each other. Respecting each others choices is also much important.

I know that in India there has been a long history of arranged marriages however this is something that I simply do not understand. I think that marriage should be between to partners who are in love with each other and it should not be forced.

I agree with this, in certain cases divorces are the only answer.God has given us a beautiful life-its very precious and every one has the right to lead good life.

With all my respect to you I can not agree to your point of view. I am absolutely sure that our society is the living being which changes with the time. I consider that it is time to make changes in the institute of marriage.

I believe that women and men are equal in nearly every way. I think therefore that marriage should be done between two willing partners. I absolutely agree that changes need to be made in certain countries when it comes to marriage.

This handsome/ugly thing is a problem. The Love of My Life was told as a young girl (which wasn't so long ago, really) that it's better to marry an ugly guy than a handsome guy. The reason: ugly guys work much harder. Take a look at the news. When there are pictures of rich guys in business etc (not the movies, of course) the guys are almost always ugly. Ugly guys know they have to work harder to keep the love of their spouses, so they bring home more money. Handsome guys think they have it made, so they don't work as hard as ugly guys.

But I wouldn't know. I'm a handsome guy.

I hope my investments in domain names makes me a handsome slacker. No, actually since I am already handsome and already a slacker, I hope my investments allow me to enjoy my slackerdom more ;-)

Knowing somebody before marriage allows partners to have better understanding and respect for each other's needs. I think love marriage provides freedom and time for a mutual understanding which is needed for a any successful relation as compared to arrange marriages where the woman/man is chosen by the parents.

Love marriages are supposed to be successful as the partners are happy with their partner and it's their decision to marry him/her, however not all love marriages have happy endings.
