I often wonder about how different things would be for me if I had got in on the action when everyone was buying up those one word domains, but seeing as that train has left, what is the next best thing?
 
If anyone knew the next best thing, why would they share it and increase the competition? I'm not entirely joking: I knew people selling ebooks who insisted certain promotions didn't work and no one should use them, while buying every ad slot on them they could get!
 
I suppose that there are many ways to be the next big thing. Figure out what your niche is and put in your best. If there are other people in competition, ensure that you maximise on your potential. Failure emanates from trying to do many things at the same time.
 
I agree that spreading yourself too thin is not the way to go and you will never achieve anything doing that, especially in our industry.
