Interest in .IN domains

IT.com
I came across a couple of posts here and elsewhere talking of reduced demand for the.IN domains...

I thought I will post this because I feel this is a temporary dip in the sales/interest in .IN and also wanted to examine my own commitment to the .IN name space..

The numbers are all on your side.

1. A burgeoning middle class which is 200+ Million and growing. Their disposable income is growing as well
2. The internet penetration in India is just 5-6% and that's bound to grow.
3. 40-50% of the Indian population is under 35 or so.

Even if the #2 increases because #3 are slowly getting savvy, it will all result in increased demand for those strings which are left of the dot.

Note: These are not exact numbers but more of ball park numbers to highlight the potential. I am not an expert, just my .02

The key would be to registering/buying the right domains and holding for the mid to long term

There has been a very significant drop in domain names sales/interest whatever the extension.

A year ago there were around 400 auctions going on daily at Sedo.com today there are around 70 (not including the specialist type GD auctions),a huge drop.

Prices in general have tumbled accordingly and drops are accelerating as domainers consolidate their portfolios.

Not too short a term glitch either I would guess.

Exactly, that's a difference I've noticed too. If you visit Sedo, there are currently 59 auctions. Anyway this involves all TLDs, including .com.
