.IN Private Nameservers

What I have experienced is that any Private Nameservers with .IN extension do not work with .IN Domains.

Example Nameservers: ns1.abcd.in & ns2.abcd.in

When put in for another .IN Domain say, xyz.in will never be accepted, but those same ns1.abcd.in, etc will work for other .Com or .Net, etc extensions.

Can any one provide some information on this... is this true universally ?

I don't think this is the case. I've seen many .in sites use .in nameservers, e.g.:
Mitsu.in - Register .IN and .Co.In Domains at Indian Domain Name Registrar - Mitsu.in- Accredited .IN Domain Registrar - India

Perhaps this is something related to the registrar you are using?

So there seems to be something wrong in the settings. As registrar are common and have been advised by Registrar just now to put in Child Namservers as well... so that maybe the issue.
