To strengthen the security, the Search Engine giant Google announced that it is going to include HTTPS as a ranking signal in their search results.
Google has been experimenting and testing in the past few months taking into account whether the sites use secure and encrypted connections as a signal in their Search engine algorithm and their results have been positive.
In the beginning, less than 1% search queries are going to be affected, but in the longer run, Google says that it will take into account the HTTPS over HTTP in its ranking algorithm in order to encourage safety on the web.
