An article posted today on Telegraph.co.uk states that Gold.co.uk has sold for £600,000 making it the largest sales price ever for a .co.uk domain. What is interesting is the buyer had a deal to buy the name from the seller £40,000, but the deal fell through and he invested the money in BullionByPost, which is set to have revenues of more than £100m this year.

"The gold.co.uk internet address has changed hands for £600,000, in what is believed to be a record price for a website with the British “.co.uk” ending."

Good news for ccTLDs. They are often underrated, but they are proving themselves slowly but surely.Local matters.
