GoDaddy has acquired about 200,000 domain names from Marchex for $28.1 million.

The sale comes as Marchex seeks to extricate itself from the domain name business in order to focus on mobile advertising analytics.
It works out at about $140 per domain.
GoDaddy said that it will make the domains available via its multi-registrar Afternic platform, which should massively increase their visibility among potential buyers.
The deal was a “unique opportunity” that doesn’t represent a change in direction for the registrar.
Marchex said that it has also sold $6.7 million worth of domains from the portfolio separately since January.

Check out an interview with GoDaddy's Senior Vice President, Mike McLaughlin about this new acquisition.

Last year a portfolio of million domains was sold by BuyDomains for around $45 million at an average of about $50 per domain.
Seems like a better deal than that with an average of $140.
But we will have to look into the portfolio.
