Lots of chatter on Opt-in verus Opt-out on the web last week...since several top 1% traffic holders got mails saying they were being signed up from web.com

The problem is - they are pretty much admitting that their domains aren't secure in the first place.
 
Yes seems subject to self(user) monitoring. It's just interesting how creative registrars are getting with new revenue stream ideas, especially premium services. Some not so well thought out like this one.
