Do cats harmful to the human health?

I love cats very much but there is an information that the hair of the cats could harm my health. Is is truth or not? Yes I know about an allergy and that the hair of the animals can cause it but is it an axiom?

I have had cats as pets for a long time; and have never had a problem with any type of illness. The only thing I have heard about are allergies; but that is something I'll investigate.

I never heard of such illness, All I know is the hair of the cats is allergic to some people. I you are allergic to one then avoid it.

The only problem I could see would have to be allergies. Other then that I don't see there being a problem...
