Dealing with Password-Protected Locked Word Documents

I recently had to edit a form that was in Word. The way it was set up is that you could only input text into the form fields - outside of the form field, nothing could be edited. I tried unlocking the Word document, but it was password protected, and I did not know the password. If you search in Google for what to do, you mostly find websites selling software. However I found a guide to breaking the password:

Essentially, you save the file in xml format, open it with a text editor, and change string w:enforcement="1" to string w:enforcement="0"

This also works, Rename file with .zip extension and delete settings.xml file by extracting it and document would be unlocked.
