Comprehending The Text

This question can be both for users and site owners. Do you think that larger text, or font size, on a website can help with a readers' comprehension of the text?

Also, in this same vein, would a large screen.......we're talking 32" or larger monitors, also help with the user being more focused on what they are doing if the images are more "there"?

Without going to the specifics, I love to look at this from the point of view of the effect that a small font has on comprehension of a particular text. It is important to have a font size that is reasonable in terms of size.

Well, in this case, reasonable is a subjective term. For example, a speed reader may want the font all in 3 and get a dragging magnifier app to scan the text for them. The purpose of the size 3 being that all the text is on one page, whereas a more readable size 10 might take up 3 pages.
