Slower Week in the Domain Aftermarket - Chalk it Up to the Chinese New Year?

A couple of weeks ago several sources told me to expect a slowdown as festivities surrounding the Chinese New Year arrived. Las Sunday night was their New Year's Eve, Monday (February 8) was New Year's Day and many offices in China are closed all of this week (which means we can likely expect another slow sales week next week).

[...] Zandibot's $87,000 sale of Scripts.com to the Stands4 Network (known for Acronyms.com and Abbreviations.com).

Sedo [...] #5 4820.com drew $14,251. The latter domain was the only one on this week's all extension Top 20 Sales Chart that fit the mold Chinese buyers typically pursue - short .com domains consisting of 2-4 numbers or letters (other than those containing vowels and the letter "V").

With the nature of the charted names indicating Chinese buyers are taking a holiday break, the big question now is will they be back in the dominating fashion we have seen before this month ends?

[...] representing new gTLD .Club who released their list of premium sales for January [...] made through a variety of channels, including registrars and the RightOfTheDot / NameJet live domain auction staged at NamesCon. The two biggest sales in this category came from the auction [...]

The only non .club name in this "club" was #20 (tie) ThoughtLeaders.net, sold for $5,500 via SnapNames.
