Chaos for India's Income Tax Department

India's Income Tax Department can't be having much fun right now. Apparently, its server got hacked and thieves managed to tap into funds:

At least Rs.11 crore of refunds were discovered to have been stolen last week by hacking into the password of some assessing officers who are responsible for crediting the refunds. The refunds were credited to fake accounts for which the returns had been filed electronically.

This is not the first time India's Income Tax Department has made the news. According to this video report, a few years ago a software engineer hacked into the Department's database and revealed sensitive data to the public.

If you plan on filing a tax return, expect delays!
