A few months after he was fired, a disgruntled employee hacked into his former company's computer network, and caused the mail server to send spam messages, including pornography and viruses.

Unfortunately, the company hadn't thought to change their computer passwords. Now that's a hard lesson for any employer to learn!

The company took the former employee to court, and he was sentenced to one year in prison and ordered to pay a fine of $54,000.

The moral of the story: if you fire an employee who had access to your computers, remember to change all the passwords!

Yes it is very important, there are so many instances of this kind scandles in my city also, but people do commit blunders time and again. This happened in one of a big software company and the losses amounted to be in millions. Some codes were hacked by an ex-employee.

Wow, that's an expensive lesson for the software company to learn. Some companies omit taking the necessary precautions because they don't believe an ex-employee would maliciously turn against them like that.

Thanks for the article Enrico. Are web developers deliberating registering the domains in their names so that they can have a hold over the other company? Or do these registrations happen unintentionally?
