New gTLD .top continues to be popular with Chinese buyers. They love numeric domains, especially those with the number 8, so 8.top could be considered one of the best names in the entire TLD. That's why it was able to attract CNY 500,000 ($79,000) in a sale handled by the Jiangsu Bangning registrar.
As has been the case all year ultra-short domains remain the hottest names on the market. None of the eight biggest sales on this week's all extension Top 20 Sales Chart is more than 4 characters long (not counting the extension of course). It looks like we will soon be charting a blockbuster 3-digit domain sale. Michael Berkens reported Tuesday (Oct. 20) that Rick Schwartz has sold 989.com for $818,181.81 but as of this writing the public WhoIs record is not showing a change in ownership. When it does, Rick would have three of the five biggest sales reported so far in 2015 [...]
