Automatic content?

I've noticed several auctions on Flippa that list a site as a turnkey business with automatic, weekly content. How exactly is the site posting content if the owner isn't writing it or paying someone else to do so?

I used to do that with RSS feeds on one of my sites. Content on my site was updated automatically anytime the original RSS feed was updated.

They have apps for that, as well as the RSS feed. You can create content ahead of time and have it "direct deposited" into your site at a predetermined time.

I had only heard of RSS feeds as the common medium of directing traffic to your site. Well, I would look at content automation as one way of proactively planning for the future. The only danger I see with this method is the inability (sometimes) to immediately respond to people commenting on the posts.

There are many sites that offer content for your websites and pages. I use paper.li as a newsletter for my FB page. It is working well and I'm getting more likes and clicks than before. It is good to have new content related to your niche every day.

Doesn't Google punish you for that though? I thought unoriginal content was a big no-no when it comes to Google rankings. I've never noticed a site using an RSS feed for content. Is it a common practice and I'm just missing it?

The RSS feeds I was using were industry specific. I used them for 4 years on the HVAC site where I was doing the SEO. The site was never punished by Google. Their policy may have changed since then as the site has been down (owner retired) no for several years.

Thanks for replying again, JackD. It sounds like a good solution for businesses and something I'll mention to my boss once I look into it a bit more. I bet other sites are using the same method and I just haven't picked up on it.

There are are some sites which pay domain investors for allowing them to post content , so content is automatic
