Camera Shy

I know that these days a lot of people are making videos advertising their companies and spreading them all over the internet. I've though of doing that, but I'm camera shy. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Right, I'm totally in the same boat. I don't like cameras, unless, of course, it's playing music. Anyway, it's not that I don't think that I could be or learn to be a good public speaker, but rather - I simply don't like doing public speaking on video. To me, it seems narcissistic and weird.

Jason76, I agree, the people who speak in the videos often have this superiority feel about them that instantly makes me turn the video off.

If you are camera shy then you can get into the niche which does not require your face. For example tutorials. Some also take the video feed of the places nearby. And that does not require the face of the person who wishes to capture that. Though at some point of time you have to make use of the camera and get over the fear. That always helps.

I tried videos because everyone was doing it but it has such an overhead: time, writing the thing, trying to speak on it, and then trying to put a video together, because I really don't like cameras. I don't think it is something everyone can do.

Yes, being camera shy shouldn’t (at all) discourage you from using video advertising. Again, there are some businesses that don’t require one to show a lot of face. You can therefore concentrate more on showing the product/service in question.

There are animation programs available that you can use to make videos with stick figures or a premade library that are really fast and easy. Could you try one of them? I did but I'm a coder, not a graphic artist so they didn't look good.
