Complete List of Indian Domain Name Sales

IT.com
What irritates me is that everytime DNJournal publishes its list of sales, some extensions, clearly less significant than .IN, are always present with decent prices, just like they have a reserved place on the list. At times, I would want to give up .IN.

You bring an interesting point. I think if it was easy to pull the ccTLDS sales reported in DNJ from the start of the year and then see how it compares with other ccTLDs, I think that would tell us how bad .in is doing or if its doing okay. I can write a tool, but will take 2-3 hours, which I do not have at the moment. But, I'll keep that in mind, incase I have 2-3 hours to spare WITH internet connection, I'll try to get that answer.

That would be a great idea.

Indian enterprise will still not understand what a good domain means in two years

Yes, for me this is the problem - the market doesn't appear to be sophisticating in terms of appreciating a good domain as a valuable asset to be paid more than $100 for. I got most of my domains when they were released back in 2007 I think and really the India domestic market market has been extremely slow to develop in terms of awareness of the value of a good domain - yeah they want it but they don't expect to pay much for it.

Every week I get offers from individuals and companies who are willing to pay more for their business card than on a domain to launch their business from. This week I had a well funded startup want one of my domains but didn't not have any awareness of why they should pay much more than $100, and this was an iT startup.
Domain money is from non-India investors in my experience but that leaves a huge home market that is not coming to the party.

This happens in .com and other cctlds too. Almost every day I get sub-$100 offers on .com's registered in the 1990s.

Yes Jeff, but I doubt those sub-$100s .com offers are for premium keyword domains.

I Agree, but what about the case where people are selling individually for higher price. i myself saw some 4 letters domains for $xxxx.
IMHO, Its now .in started doing good, its need little more time to accumulate and for sure.

I have the same feeling and expectations.

I recently sold a good llll .co.in domain for 850 USD to a startup but generally, like others said, I receive offers in the range of 100-300 USD.

Anyway I reject these offers and I keep the domains because I think their value will be much more in the next few years.

For example, for the above sale of 850 USD, the starting buy-in price was 1000 USD but the buyer offered 500 USD and didn't want to go upper. I set this price as the final price and at the end the buyer bought the domain at 850 USD.

Congrats Mukta. nice to hear of a .co.in sale....now pls report it on this thread if you legally can :)

Just noticed, that we have crossed 1,000 REPORTED SALES of .in domains this year (sometime in Feb/March). Woohoooo !!!

It took 10 years to reach that mark. Hopefully the next 1K doesn't take that long.
