Complete List of Indian Domain Name Sales

Rumor has it that just like in the lens.in decision and several other single keyword names (see 2005-2006) the registry will take over all domains that should have been RESERVED in the first place, causing the exchequer significant losses to the tune of several thousand crores! Investors Beware!

From, where did you get that news from. If that happens, its the end of .in domains.

I think its just a rumour too. LENS.IN was ordered to be taken back because he user failed to respond, and claim ownership of the name.

Ace, if you read the decision at the end of the lens.in case (https://registry.in/system/files/lensin.pdf), this is the owner of lens.in that does not want to be related to his domaine anymore, this is why the domain is confiscated by the registry. But from what I understand, he won the right to keep to domain, IF he wants.

"The situation that has arisen is the Complainant has failed to prove its rights in the disputed domain name and the Respondent does not want to be related to the domain name"

Is it rumor? Hope it would n`t be possible.

I can confirm this as I am the buyer of domain name :)

Thanks for reporting Will. we all are working to grow .in into a world class ccTLD one way or other and reporting this helps. I am afraid, unable to declare buy price due to investors involved and strategy.

Congrats on your new project.

Call it a rumor, call it whatever. Especially, single keyword names assigned, bought, secured through Early Access, INDRP or Otherwise are at risk. When one buys a DOT IN they sign and agree to this clause digitally, knowingly or otherwise:

12. Reservation of Rights for the .IN Registry: The .IN Registry reserves the right to instruct its Registry Services Provider to deny, cancel, transfer or otherwise make unavailable any registration that it deems necessary or place any domain name(s) on registry lock and/or put a domain name on hold in its discretion: (1) to protect the integrity and stability of .IN Registry; (2) to comply with any applicable laws, Indian government rules or requirements, requests of law enforcement, in compliance with any dispute resolution process; (3) to avoid any liability, civil or criminal, on the part of the .IN Registry, as well as its affiliates, subsidiaries, officers, directors, representatives and employees; (4) for violations of this Agreement; or (5) to correct mistakes made by the Registry or any Registrar in connection with a domain name registration. The Registry also reserves the right to freeze a domain name during resolution of a dispute pending before arbitrator(s) appointed under Registry ís Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy and/or a court of competent jurisdiction.

The rule does NOT make any distinction:
  1. between keywords or non-keywords
  2. between premium keyword or non-premium keyword
  3. between names registered in 2005 or later
  4. between LLL or NNN
  5. between premium LLL or non-premium LLL
So your news, about Registry trying to take away the keywords related names seems more like a rumour.

Yes every dot IN is subject to application of these terms.

So, what does this have to do with lens.in decision ? and the fact that single keyword names are in danger. I think all names are equally in danger regardless of the quality of the name.

If there were 254 transactions total, then 0.39% of 254 equals to 254/100*0.39 = .9906 ~ 1 does it?

I.e. there was only one .in sale for $1,909

Duh, you are correct. I had mentally done this math. Sorry about that.

I think that number of sales is in question, because if you look at this image: http://dngeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/dncom5.png

I do not think that its the percentage of sales, but maybe percentage of total cost?.
