So its official, Apple decided to name their new product the "ipad" - (now available in your local supermarket - check the female hygiene department).

I mean seriously anything would have been better than the ipad - how about iscreen (sounds like ice cream) or even itab - now that makes sense.

I understand Seyb is now trying to lock in the trademark for the ipad - but in our world, looks like [removed] got a hold of the information a tad big early and decided to register ipad.in or could it be possibly just intuition:

Do you value this domain or do you see Steve Jobs and Co. come knocking at your door to ask for it back?

:p Hee hee. I'm sure the iPad will bear the brunt of many more "female hygiene department" jokes.

Many people buy domains which include the prefix "i" and "e." My guess is it will be hard for Apple to prove that the owner had actual prior knowledge that their product would be called iPad. In any event, I think the owner would be wise not to park this domain.

To date, Apple hasn't acquired iPod.in or iPhone.in so they might not go after iPad.in. I guess time will tell!

 Hey, perhaps Apple is going to focus on its trademark problem rather than what domain it will use or acquire? I just read that Fujitsu already has a prior pending US trademark for "iPAD" (see Fujitsu's iPAD brochure).

Apple has filed a request at the USPTO seeking an extension of time in which to file an opposition to Fujitsu's application.

Perhaps Apple is trying to stall Fujitsu's trademark application until it reaches some kind of agreement with them?

Very interesting regarding Fujitsu......I dunno how you feel but prior to naming a potential billion dollar project anything I would have made sure I own at the very least the .com! So basically all users that come to iPAD.com should be directed to the apple ipad page like iphone.com directs users to apple iphone page.

My 2c - They should just rename it iTAB and acquire the .com for 10K :)
