I just received an e-mail from somebody asking me how much I would like for my name CHIT.IN - chit can mean many things in India, in particular it means consciousness as in Sat Chit Ananda, but it is also used in other areas. How do you react to e-mails out of the blue ? And what sort of price would you put on Chit.in if you were selling it ? Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks fo that Jeff - I replied and pointed the guy to the recent .in sales I pointed out I was intending developing the name but haven't had time so far and asked him to make an offer. So far he hasn't got back to me.

Sometime it takes hours, sometimes days, and sometimes months for a deal to be worked out. And often when people contact you they honestly don't realize how much domains are worth and just aren't willing to pay a decent price.

CHIT is an word from CHIT FUNDS.

There are Thousand of companies in India, which has CHIT in their companies names.

For Example: Shriram Chits (shriramchits.com)

And
XYZ Chit Funds
XYZ Chits Pvt. Ltd.

Regards

Agree with ebiz4india. Chit funds are huge in India, and thus this is what comes to my mind.

Just regged chit.co.in ;-)

(I am leaving chitfunds.in, and co.in on the table in case some body wants it...)

Really interesting - I hadn't realized that the word chit is originally a Hindi word.

I am leaving chitfunds.in, and co.in on the table in case some body wants it

Looks like the .in was registered in 2005.
