Factors to Consider When Valuing a Domain Name

Okay, so I'd like to learn more about how to recognise the value of a domain name.

I've gone through past appraisal threads, but they don't provide me with enough explanation. I know strong commercial terms make good domains, plus there's a difference between reseller and end-user values.

Can anyone provide me with some guidance/tips about what factors to consider when valuing a domain? Do you use any particular tools to help with such valuations?

Do you, or anyone else, actually recommend this points system? I want to make sure I'm not wasting my time by using this system.

I don't use the system - however I do look at the parameters carefully (apart from the name appeal) before I judge.

In my opinion - on most of the forums - folks do not use any system at all - but just go with a gut feel on estimated price.

Hmmmm... may be I can develop a tool to analyze based on that post - provided you all start using it (to compare gut feel vs. mathematical model)?
Let me know - if I should waste my time creating it .. or it is not needed !
