What's the most you can make?

I once heard from someone who was making $1 per month, totalling to $12 per year which at times is sufficient for renewal. What's the most that anyone has ever made from domain parking per domain name?

It has been awhile but in 2007 I had 300 domains parked and made $1800 that year. 50% of the domains made their reg fee and the rest of the money was made by only 12 to 15 domains. It is a whole different ball game now and most domains do not make their reg fee. I use Google analytics to track how much traffic each domain pulls in and decide on renewal by the amount of traffic, not clicks. Savvy consumers have become wise to ads and banners and use ad blockers. Makes it hard to generate income from parked domains.

Things change, and this is one of those things. Is there any other way of getting traffic that you know of? Like affiliate marketing on parked domains?

Quite an insight @JackD and I'd understand this because times have changed and probably back in 2007, domain parking was just beginning to hit. With the ad blockers and all other changes, I guess it's even harder to make much now.

It depends on your definition of "parked". I believe to generate significant income today you have to do more than just park a domain. Example: be an Amazon Marketing affiliate. This way, you page has content other than just banners and ads. As an Amazon Affiliate, ad blockers will not affect your page display and you will make income if visitors place an order with Amazon from your page.

I don't think you'd get approved to be an affiliate without content. Amazon is known for yanking approval as well. I'm not sure how feasible the idea is, because why would someone click on your affiliate link? They'd likely just hit the back key and move on to a better search result. Their affiliate payout structure has changed too, so you need to target certain goods in order to make money now. Might as well make a blog if you're going to do all that and are a decent writer.

I think getting approval can be made easy, as you can first create some WP Blog and put plugins which automatically fetches data from different RSS, blogs, etc. This way you will have enough content on your site to get approval.
Note, we want data to get approval and as an alternative to domain parking. So, Content from different sources may not affect our intention. But SEO wise it's not good and I think it's not our concern and the main stream of income.
