Hello Inforumers,

I had noticed for several weeks that i could not add .in domains to my Afternic list of names for sale. I emailed Afternic's customer service today asking why that was so. They basically told me the .in registry has given them orders not to allow .in domains to be added as available for purchase on their website. This disturbs me and its just unfortunate. By not being able to add .in domains to your portfolio that means those names have considerably less exposure to potential end users. I know we can still make sales without Afternic, but its is not good to not be able to post names on Afternic.

What are you thoughts on this?

I can confirm this as well and I hope Afternic is an exception, Why such a direction was given by NIXI/Registry is to be determined and key.

It is not against policy to sell or to even auction names with the only restriction being imposed on Registrars per clause 6.1 in their agreement with the Registry.

Bad news, I hope things will change.

@LLL the only logical inference so far is:

Afternic was acquired by GoDaddy an accredited IN Registrar last year (Sep 2013), I guess once merged with GoDaddy they no longer held an independent marketplace status. Not sure when exactly this change to classify IN as unsupported happened at Afternic - but it could have been triggered by this clause 6.1 I referenced above.

So Sedo, Aftermarket, Flippa, Freemarket and a few forums are still left as avenues for sale/auction.

I think you'r re right about Afernic now being seen by .IN registry as having a registrar(Godaddy) status.

But i hope Sedo doesnt get into the registrar business
