The DNJournal office will be closed until July 8. This will be the longest break I've taken since launching the publication over 11 years ago - but I have the best possible reason for taking that time off now. My lovely wife Diana and I are using it to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. I apologize for any inconvenience caused by my absence, but if you look at the photo below, I think you will understand. See you again on the 8th!
He's on holiday right now:
I understand how u feel but the truth is that J&K are formally considered contested territory. But I guess the Indian controlled side should be shown. This was early last week well before the 4th July weekend (a break after 11 years which I guess he deserves) however there is NO EXCUSE and NO VACATION from screwing up a country's sovereign borders in an image! Online material can be edited from anywhere and taken down if offensive immediately...I am very disappointed and I hope other IN Forum readers also write to him...
I asked Manmeet about this yesterday and he said it would be illegal, which brings upon some questions, hopefully someone could pose these to the registry... not on my behalf
Why is the registry so against domainers and capitalism in general?
Why does the registry frown upon entrepreneurs that own multiple generic keyword domains?
Where is the line drawn that would make selling a domain or a website legal?
How does the registry assume what I plan to do with my domains down the road?
Does the registry realize it is curbing innovation by confiscating certain domains for ludicrous reasons (see honey.in)?
Why does the registry not embrace the power of the .in? .co and .me are perfect examples to look at. .in could stand for internet, international, incorporated... imagine the possibilities!
There doesn't seem to be any restriction placed upon Registrants on the sale of .IN Domain Names but it's only Registrars, for whom the following conditions have been laid down as follows:
.IN REGISTRAR ACCREDITATION AGREEMENT (Registry.in)
Clause 6.1 The Registrars will desist, at all times, from involving themselves, or through their re-sellers, in any way in the squatting, grabbing, hoarding, auctioning or selling of the .IN domain names at a higher price than they are regularly charging from the public. Any such involvement of the Registrar will lead the termination of Accreditation, financial penalty and any other legal action as provided under the laws of India.
While following is provided for Registrants, which nowhere restricts them to sell .IN Domains:
TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR REGISTRANTS (Registry.in)
Clause 5. Lawful Usage of Domain Name: The Registrant shall use the domain name in such a way that it does not violate any third-party rights, applicable laws or regulations, including discrimination on the basis of race, language, sex or religion and the Registrant further warrants that it shall not register or use the domain name in bad faith or for any unlawful purpose.
Clause 6. .IN Registry considers illegal or fraudulent actions, spamming, using email in denial-of-service attacks, Phishing, Pharming, Botnet command and control, Distribution of pornography, Illegal Access to other computer and networks etc. as abusive use of domain name. Registry can suspend the Registered name in such cases and initiate action accordingly. Further, Fast Flux hosting may be used only with prior permission of .IN Registry.

All domain name deals are done by Mitsu's USA based entity which is nothing to do with .IN registry, No.of times Mitsu personally raised this issue to .In registry in front of all registrars that Domain Name sale and purchase is not illegal and every time we got reply that they will update us.
Manmeet - You gonna bring out The Glenlivet 21 or JW Blue?
Thanks for the brinigng up important rules about whether domainers can / cannot sell .in domains. Based on what cyberlawyer has posted and what Mitsu responded, It seems that Mitsu contradicts what the CyberLawyer is saying.
Assuming that the CyberLawyer is correct, and it is possible to sell/auction .in domains, why not have a .in auction during the conference?
Ace, no one is contradicting anyone's statements. Mr Goyal from Mitsu made it clear in the above statement that Mitsu's (Registrar's) U.S. entity handles domain name sales and Mitsu.in has nothing to do with the domain name sales.
Regarding .in auction during the conference, we are still working on our Conference day Agenda
I'm talking about the fact that if domainers can sell .in domains or not. This has nothing to do with US Entity that Mitsu talked about. Dont mix the the two up.
Also, till CyberLawyer mentioned it, no one was aware that it was legal for domainers to sell .in domains. Mitsu is batting for domainers for make selling .in domains legal.
