.ORG more popular than .IN ??

IT.com
Thanks Pupul and you are very correct in stating that we do need a long while for large growth in the .IN suffix, but I am thinking more like 10 years to even come close to the growth that we are all dreaming about BUT our dreams about the .IN extension WILL BE destroyed unless we actually start developing good quality websites.

I don't think that many people on this forum actually realise that JUST registering or buying a good keyword name and then parking it for 5 years WILL NOT increase its value in that timeframe, you guys will just be wasting your money and registration fees, YOU HAVE TO develop it or at least sell it to someone who will do that or work with someone whom is willing to help you DEVELOP the name!

DEVELOPMENT is the ONLY way forward for us now, as I have told many people, the GAME has CHANGED! There is ABSOLUTELY NO money left in increasing valuations of keywords that have been parked for years! This strategy no longer works. If you read the article below, it shows that even Google is changing its algorithms for search results, therefore buying a keyword is no longer the most desirable option for businesses! THEY WANT developed domains which are already generating traffic! And all of this combined with the competition from the new suffixes will create major issues for us, therefore our ONLY option for enabling .IN to survive and prosper is start developing and creating high search ranks for .IN sites on search engines.

Please read this article guys:

Google Warns of Upcoming Exact Match Domain Algorithm Change - Search Engine Watch (#SEW)

TK i support you encouraging us .IN domainers to develop our .In domains, but the fact is that the .IN revolution will still occur with or without us because India's internet existence is quite large!!!

and yes, most new extensions will fail, and a few ones will succeed. But i am a little worried like u TK about the injection of new extensions into the game. But only a little worried ;)

@domaining123. NO the only way to compare would be not to look at the number of .IN parked against live .IN but to rather look at the number of quality single keyword PARKED .IN against quality single keyword LIVE .IN

You will find that there is a MASSIVE number of quality keyword .INs just sitting around and parked up, doing nothing whilst the SAME keywords with new suffixes are already being developed into quality websites and once the new extensions become live, the websites will have higher rankings on the search engines NOT only because they are excellent keywords BUT because they are ALSO live websites that are actually generating TRAFFIC!! Which therefore in turn increase the reputation of of these extensions amongst not only the search engines but also the general population of India and the world!! So if we don't do the same thing, we are doomed amongst the thousands of other suffixes that will be used by Indians and .IN will become a needle in haystack!

DEVELOP, DEVELOP, DEVELOP! Only way forward! Don't let your investments go down the drain!

And yes the Indian internet existence is quite large, but you would be surprised as to how many of the top 5000 dictionary single keyword names are actually held by domain investors (non-developers) whom have done nothing but just park the names, hoping for some sort of magic increase in value after 5-10 years. BUT in 5-10 years the game will be completely different, the playing field itself would be a different world. We CANNOT base our predictions on the past and the .Com increases in valuations, .IN is part of a different world to the 1990s of .COM domain name investments. The web is opening up to thousands of new suffixes and the search engines are completely changing the way they rank domains names in their searches!

We HAVE TO change our GAME PLAN. This is not a traditional unchanging game, it is gamble based on how WELL you understand the game! It is not as easy as registering a good keyword and waiting a few years to sell the name on for millions of dollars! The game does NOT work like this anymore! PLEASE PLEASE think of the many factors involved in increasing the value of your name instead of wasting your money on renewals year after year and hoping of WINNING a domain name LOTTERY!

By the way I am not always so negative, as I also have faith in .IN too, BUT I am just trying to make people aware that this is not a simple process of just registering and parking. I have made this mistake in the past, I have also had to learn the lesson the hard way guys!

Lets get together and make a difference and establish .IN as a great useable extension for Indian internet users! By the way if anyone is interested in helping me develop the top names in my portfolio then please PM me, we need to work together guys!

No, all the domains. The impact of a domain name on SEO is marginal if you have quality content.

The reason why more .in domains are not developed is that merit, hard work and experience are not appreciated in the Indian internet industry by many companies . Large investors are subjected to identity theft attempts ( have reason to believe that a fake aadhar card has been generated for a domain investor) to steal their developed websites, domains and savings. Defamatory emails and postings make it difficult for an online publisher /investor to do business /sell directly . Frauds have no qualms hacking computers and claiming credit for work they have not done. Unfortunately, people who indulge in these illegal activities are well protected from legal action. More details will be posted on this and other forums soon.

Sounds like we are in for some very difficult times over the next few years starting from next year, LOTS of competition with the .IN extension coming our way.

This is exactly why we NEED to start developing our names NOW and increase traffic to .IN based websites BEFORE the other extensions can compete with our well established and quality .IN extension.

Lets do this together guys and start moving forward in this very competitive domain name space of the future!

New domain names create web of confusion - The Times of India

The new tlds compete with other tlds and not cctlds (except perhaps Indian geo tlds in a very small way).

Developing domains is the best option to increase the market, but the interests of those who spend their time and hard earned money online developing websites should be protected.

Extensions dont matter much in one way. Main thing what matters is revenue.

I give you one example that is, I have developed lots of .in sites.. And some get around 500 visits / day.. which make me around $2 to $5 / day... and i make around $100 / month average.

Same thing i have .com, .net, .org names developed which target pure USA traffic, i have domains which get around 100 to 200 visits / month but they make me approx $200/month and more.

I know every categorie is different and have there own CPC, as with my .in names i get around 500+ clicks which makes me $100 / month.

and with my .com names i hardly need 30 to 40 clicks to make $200..this are just examples. I have my .com, .net , .org domains parked with quality parking companies.. where i get $50/click and above... my highest is $125 / click.

This all factors come in. i cant even imagine when .in will pay me $100/ click ..

That was just one calculation, but saying that.. when you develop a .com, .net or .org name and target USA or UK Or AUS traffic there is high competition, you need to work really hard to get on top.

With .in names you can come up in google way to faster, i have so many developed .in and most of them rank and get traffic via google, it takes hardly 1 month of time to get there.. sometime's more time... but you get it soon as compared to others extensions.

But with so many extensions comming up in few months, things are going to get messed up, i strongly feel it will affect .in domains as people if they dont find there particular name with .in they will look for those other extensions and register. At the end user will get confused with those extensions and he will search for xyz.in instead of say xyz.mumbai or something..

So its best you develop your .in, whatever money you can make is with adsense only, other revenue options are way to less and not worth with your traffic...

@getaddicted, so in a way, you are indirectly agreeing with me that the ONLY REALISTIC way forward for us .in investors is to start DEVELOPING.

DEVELOP, DEVELOP, DEVELOP! This is the way forward guys! Don't get left behind!

@ truemaker, i do agree directly and not indirectly.

With .in names you can only win with your development, The traffic what you get is amazing. I tell you You will Get QUANTITY rather than quality once you rank well. Quality is also improving but slowly.

But developement is only way ahead for everyone.........

I give you one example i had listed 10 domains for sale, long time back all where .in and no one was paying me $10 for those names.

What i did was developed all those names.. now those names makes me atleast $10/month minimum...and it makes me $150/ year approx.

This how things are.

I know developement is not easy for all, and specially those who hold 1000's of names. But you need to start 2 years back i had 10 sites, now i have 125+..

You can start slowly and in comming years you will reach your goals, always remember Start developing with your best names first and try to make your sites good informative and with quality content ( avoid copied content ).

Also dont just make a 2 page site, atleast have 10 pages of site, i know it will cost you more, but earning would be also good. Your site should me bigger as much as you can make... But if you have 100's of names... this is the way to go.

Atleast it works for me....

Yet another article and interesting reasons as to why India will always fall behind the rest of the world in regards to speed of quality development and catching up with the rest of the developed and also even the 'developing' world. Most of the factors mentioned in the article then create a domino effect on the adoption of technology usage within the population.

We NEED to educate the Indian population and create opportunities to enable the citizens of India to UNDERSTAND the potential of using the web for their OWN BETTERMENT. More educational initiatives needs to started across India, and then and ONLY then will we see people gaining interest in Indian websites and their mass potential which may then in turn lead to our .in investments seeing some sort of fruitation.

Anyway, check out the below article from the New York Times:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/20/opinion/why-india-trails-china.html?_r=1&

Yet again another brilliant initiative by the Chinese government to bridge the gap in digital literacy across China. INDIA PLEASE, YOU NEED TO START MOVING WITH FAR MORE INITIATIVES TO INCREASE BROADBAND SPEED! We are going to be left in the dark ages if we don't start petitioning both state governments and the national government to increase development of broadband speeds across our country. Let's not let China beat us in at least this ONE race?!!!

China Says Broadband Speeds Of 20 Mbps By 2015 - Forbes

China are going to go from a current average of 2Mbps to 20Mbps WITHIN TWO YEARS!!! But India have nothing similar planned!! Does anyone know what the Indian average speed is currently?
