I was not trying to Insult India.

The fact is, it is a poor nation. Extensions with the msot value are DIRECTLY related to the per capita income, do some research yourself. I don't make the rules, I just follow them ..

You are correct though, domains are about specific demand. There is not going to be as high of a demand for the small sized businesses to be online in such a country. In USA, Canada, UK, Australia, etc .. It is unheard of to open a business without a web address. It is an expected cost of business.

India is not to that point yet. I am not saying they won't get their, but it will be a slower process because this basic reason. Lack of supply = more demand. Right now there is plenty of supply because all of the small companies are not even trying to reserve their web space (even if not utilized) as either they don't envision an online presence or they feel it is unimportant. Otherwise, you would see smart street vendors giving out bags with their merchandise with their web site url on it. 1,000's of other variations when it comes to marketing that push people to their web site.

The country just has not developed like that yet, and the places where it HAS have all been countries with a higher per capita income.

Again, no disrespect to India at all, but these are the facts as I know them. If i am wrong please let me know.

No worries Ryan. Actions speak louder than words and our investment in India's extension is proof of that. Maybe reading that dampens my optimism a little bit but we must all continue the trek. Thanks for your comments.

The thing that kills .in for me is the vast difference between the original registration fee of say $3 and the then renewal of $13. Would be better all around of the fee was regular say $8 or so.
I dont see much other than inter domainer trading in .in domains, a bit like "pass the parcel" game (if anyone else knows that old game)

we have to look at .in as a 'long term investment' and not just a quick flip.
just look at the popualtion......thats the attractive bit.
india and china are sleeping giants so our investment will come into play over a couple of years.

western people tend to forget that more and more people adopt english as a common language everyday so more and more people will invest in .in for business but this takes time.

currently we are in a good time to get .in's for investment

Agreed.India is due to overtake China I believe in 3/5 years time so of course both India and China will be powerhouses, provided of course we dont die of radiation poisoning in meanwhile.

I got the feeling the last 502 available names are hard to be sold out since most of them are not a good letters.

By my birthday (june 22nd) I'm willing to bet you are only getting dropped lll.in and the move to llll.in is on .. It already is for the most important premiums I am sure

Even more interesting, .in, .co.in, .cn, .ca, comparison

Then try

.in, .co.in, .cn, .org
.in, .co.in, .cn, .net REAL interesting strong decline
.in, .co.in, .cn, .mobi - encouraging
.in, .co.in, .cn, .biz beyond encouraging

This is where it gets confusing though : try .in, .co.in, .cn, .so

Somalia, .so was just opened up I am 99 % sure, nor by any means should it trend that high. I know cause I just registered airways.so - airlines.so - bosa.so (geo hack) - and quotes.so

Now what that tells me, is while the information IS helpful it is not 100% accurate. .So should never show up like that. But the growth in .in is real and inevitable.

Well, I snatched up 20 or so LLL.in's off of Ace's list and going to get some more today (If you guys don't beat me to it!!) I think the LLL.in market will sell out soon, even the junk q's, and we will see a price jump in a big way. I sold a low quality LLL.in this week in the lower $xxx range. I have watched the google trends for a long time and while it may not be perfect, the recent jump can not be ignored..

Go LLL.in!!
