The same company that runs the well known Bharat Matrimony website is launching a new matrimony site for India's rich and famous.

According to the newly launched EliteMatrimony.com, they offer a marriage service "Reserved for the Elite."

Shame they didn't think to register EliteMatrimony.in before they launched their site.

I've come across many examples where Indian companies launch a site on a .com extension, but they fail to register the .in extension as well. Hopefully, it's just a matter of time before these companies catch on.

.IN is a top level domain only for India. Indian companies are interested to do their business globally.

Even for a global company, it makes sense to have a number of regional websites, in ccTLDs, to cater to regional markets.

In this case though, the company seems to be targeting Indians exclusively, although this may include NRI.

Hi there IndiaInfo, I still think that as well as the .com, such Indian companies should own the .in domain. This will help them maintain regional-specific branding, and also help them avoid losing visitors (eg: to EliteMatrimony.in).

Google does business nationally, but as well as using Google.com, they still use Google.co.in for those visitors in India and Google.co.jp for users in Japan etc. I live in Canada and I use Google.ca, not Google.com.

Even if the Indian company doesn't want to use the .in domain, they should own it for protective reasons to avoid someone else setting up a site that could end up hurting them.
