Default Overview of Google's Panda algorithm

AlooTechie.com's article provides a good overview the Google Panda algorithm, and highlights how the algorithm focuses on the quality of a website's content: Google Panda is more Popular than Kung fu Panda.

Have any of your sites been Google Panda slapped? If so, did the manage to get the penalty lifted?

In theory, Panda should prevent low quality sites, such as scraper sites or sites with lots of duplicate content, from dominating the search rankings, even if they contain a lot of relative keywords to the search.
I don't think Google can really tell the difference between a low quality and a high quality site. A lot of good websites got hurt in the Panda updates.

where you are getting your links from now has a chance of hurting your website, if the site which linked to you is of poor quality.
Ridiculous - that means you can nuke a competitor in Google by buying a lot of crappy links to their website.

Google incorporated Panda into their algorithms for one primary purpose: to prevent scraper sites from outranking the sites from which they scraped, and to prevent unhelpful content from outranking helpful content.
If your website has been hit by Panda, then people can scrape away to their heart's delight and outrank you for your own content.

Thanks for sharing the algorithm.Google Panda has changed the strategy of the SEO.It gives more priority to the quality of the content. So, On page get more importance. The off page methods like Article posting, Blog posting and Article posting also get the importance. But you need to take care of the quality of the post.

this is an interesting one, as i am hearing a lot of people questioning article marketing as a credible seo strategy including article spinning. i wonder if there are other strategies people are thinking twice about as a result of this update?

Google panda is nothing specifically to do with the duplicate content but is is all about poor quality content or content created to looks as if it isn't copied. For ex. Just search any article that you like to find, you will see the few urls listed with the same article, which shows they are not being penalized.

Google knows that content duplication could happen all over the Internet by any way, the best example is feed readers, etc...
