Spam Fighters
We all dislike spam (unless you're a spammer I suppose
).
We see spam in emails, blog comments, forum posts, social media sites etc. Luckily, there are many tools available to help you detect and fight spam. Here are a few of these tools:
- Akismet - A WordPress plugin that helps you detect comment spam and trackback spam.
- SpamAssassin - A mail filter that prevents junk email from entering your in-box.
- Stop Forum Spam - Database that helps you detect spammers who are registering on forums. You can search by username, email address or IP address.
- McAfee SiteAdvisor - Browser plugin that tests websites for spam, viruses and spyware.
- Blacklist check - This website allows you to check if a particular mail server IP address is blacklisted
- Twitter Spam Watch - Follow @spam on Twitter and then you'll be able to report spam to them via a Direct Message. Alternatively, you can report a spammer directly from their Twitter profile page.
While none of these tools can totally prevent spam from slipping through, they can definitely help reduce it!
How do you fight spam?
