Default Do Expired Domains Lose their Link Equity?

Good article on Search Engine Land that discusses whether links from expired domains influence Google rankings.

Situations where link credit is likely lost:
    - when you buy an expired domain
    - when you buy a domain and redirect links

Situations where link credit is likely retained:
    - when you buy a domain and run the website as usual
    - when you get domain through an acquisition
