Graphics/Logos for your Website

Which software program do you use to edit and create graphics/logos for your websites?

I have used GIMP, which is an open-source software program, and have had no major problems using it. I think GIMP is great because it provides the basic tools to those who aren't interested in becoming professional web designers, but who still want to try and create some graphics on their own.

I've read that Gimp is the "free alternative to Photoshop." No doubt Photoshop offers many more powerful features than GIMP. However, GIMP is a good alternative to consider if you are just looking for the basics and/or can't afford Photoshop.

Has anyone else tried Gimp before? If so, what do you think of it?
