I just noticed that the fees to file a complaint via the INDRP were changed a few months ago. The updated fees are as follows:
- .IN Registry's Administration Fee Rs. 1,000 (used to be Rs. 5,000).
- Arbitrator's Fee Rs. 9,000 (used to be Rs. 25,000).
- For personal hearing Rs. 2,000 per hearing, with maximum of two hearings (used to be Rs.5000 per hearing, with maximum of four hearings).
As you can see, the fees were actually decreased. I think this is a good decision, as people who have valid claims but can't easily afford to pay the fees now have easier access to file a complaint under the INDRP. If a complainant abuses this process via reverse domain name hijacking, then they should have costs ordered against them.
