Great article.
Good news for ICANN - they'll get a lot of extra money for little work.
However, I just can't see why there would be much end user demand for .eco.

Jeff hit it on the head. .Eco will be another really-hype TLD, and then its popularity will bottom out..Lets see what becomes of it then.

Sad part is that ICANN is going all out to introduce new extensions - like zulu and others. So instead of streamline existing gTLD's ccTLD's, IDN's and stuff - get ready for the community TLD's as well
