Recognition comes from the strangest sources. Amazing that .mobi and .eu have come to see the value of idn before the majority of the domain community.

Personally I see it only as yet another money making scheme for the registrars as any names possibly worth having will be reserved or a new "tm" will appear from the usual suspects or auctioned off.

Caveat emptor, idn will be a major force sooner rather than later but idn.com and idn.cctld will be the place to be. Steer clear of the "new boys on the block" if idn are for you there are still some bargains to be had if you search carefully.

Interesting that .mobi and .eu are doing this, and it's a positive trend for IDNs.

That being said, from a domainer's point of view, I'm not sure that these are extensions worth investing in.
