Diwali 2009
On 17th October, many people in India will be celebrating the 5-day festival called Diwali / Deepavali / Deepawali. This festival is celebrated by the Hindu, Sikh and Jain communities.
This is one of the most popular festivals in the Hindu calendar. It is celebrated on the 15th day of Kartika (October/November).In this Internet age, you can now send Diwali messages via SMS, send Diwali video greetings and even shop at an online Diwali store. The most beautiful of all Indian festivals, Diwali is a celebration of lights. Streets are illuminated with rows of clay lamps and homes are decorated with colours and candles. This festival is celebrated with new clothes, spectacular firecrackers and a variety of sweets in the company of family and friends. All this illumination and fireworks, joy and festivity, signify the victory of divine forces over those of wicked.
For those of you who celebrate Diwali, I wish you a bright and happy Diwali.Last edited by Ceres; 10-15-2009 at 03:12 PM.
