ImHalal.com: Search Engine for Muslims
I just read about the launch of ImHalal.com - the first 'halal' search engine. According to the website:
The search engine filters "Haram" keywords - there are 3 Haram levels. For example, if you search for either "pork" or "alcohol" on Imhalal.com, it displays this message:The last few years Muslims have become very active on the Internet. The lack of tools for Muslims to be able to continue their online activities responsibly has inspired ImHalal.com to enter the search engine market. Our goals is to become the homepage in all Muslim households.
If you search for "porn" it states:Oops! Your search inquiry has a Haram level of 1 out of 3. This means that the results fetched by ImHalal.com could be haram!
If you still think the results will be clean click me!
You can get additional information about ImHalal via Twitter.Oops! Your search inquiry has a Haram level of 3 out of 3! I would like to advise you to change your search terms and try again.
Seeing as India has a large Muslim population, I wonder if ImHalal will also adopt the .IN domain extension (in addition to the .com).Last edited by Ceres; 09-03-2009 at 06:28 PM.

Re: ImHalal.com: Search Engine for Muslims
It should become popular imo, but to have the .in /.co.in extension is not very essential but highly probable, anticipatory reg?

nice site though, not necessarily for any particular religion ^_^.Last edited by skyshipper; 09-03-2009 at 07:34 PM. Reason: trivial

Re: ImHalal.com: Search Engine for Muslims
I notice someone recently registered ImHalal.in (unfortunately, it doesn't look like it was registered the owners of ImHalal.com). The .in domain is a parked page and provides "search engine" resources and information. Hmmh, what a coincidence, how many of you would normally associate halal with a search engine?...

The Nazca Lines:
!
just a question though. what about websites vs companies (virtual presence vs real offices) as far as legal jurisdiction is concerned. I think a actual ground presence or real offices will have a better chance in any dispute ,then a virtual presence (vis a vis ) website (only).
A well known company , eg: cctlds.com (just an eg) would have little chance of having rights on cctlds.in (the actual name!). However if it was bharatmortarcompany.com vis a vis bharatmortar.in , the second case would be a better one for having legal rights (disputable though) to the name.
thoughts on this.
p.s. couldn't find the "it wasn't me" icon ,hence the pic..

Re: ImHalal.com: Search Engine for Muslims
If an "online" business acquires trademark or common law rights over a particular term, I would think it's irrelevant that they don't have a brick and mortar business. In this internet age, more and more online businesses are being created.
LOL Kaustav. I don't think we have one of those icons.
